Ruth S. Allen passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2017, in her home at Sterling Heights Community in Bethlehem, PA. She was 87. Born in Somerville, NJ, she resided in North Plainfield, NJ for 20 years before moving to Watchung, NJ, Jackson, NJ and most recently Bethlehem, PA since 2015.

Ruth was a past member of Wilson Memorial Church in Watchung. She was active in the Muhlenberg Hospital Women's Auxiliary in Plainfield, NJ for many years. In her spare time, Ruth loved gardening and was particularly proud of her rose gardens and many varieties of Iris. She was very talented with needlepoint completing beautiful and time-consuming pictures, rugs and Christmas stockings for her three grandchildren who were the light of her life.

Survivors: Ruth's husband of 68 years, James, predeceased her in June of 2017. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Dickert and her husband Paul, of Bethlehem, PA; her son, Thomas J Allen,Sr. and his wife Cathy of North Plainfield, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Amy Fisher and her husband James of Bethlehem, PA; Amanda Smith and her husband Patrick of Hoboken, NJ; Thomas Allen, Jr. of North Plainfield, NJ and 2 great-granddaughters Alivia and Andria Fisher.
