Obituary for Barbara Ornstein (Goldfield)

Barbara Ornstein, 72, of Nazareth, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on Sunday morning, December 11, 2022 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. She was the beloved wife of the late Alan R. Ornstein. Together they shared almost 50 years together before his passing in February of 2020. Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Sidney and Gloria (Polis) Goldfield. She graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in English and worked for over 20 years as an administrative assistant in the Philadelphia School District, before retiring in 2006 and moving to the Lehigh Valley. Barbara had a love of History and read extensively. She also loved anything "Phantom of the Opera." Shopping trips, especially to Mechants Square Mall, The Black Rose and Christmas Tree Shop, as well as collecting and arranging dolls were special hobbies for her. Visiting the Shady Maple was also a special trip and she liked the fall season and Halloween. Most important to her was her family. She missed her husband, Alan dearly and spending time with her children and grandchildren were the highlights of her life and she always looked forward to those special times.

Survivors: She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Kochenash and her husband Stephen of Nazareth; son, Mark Ornstein and his wife Bridget of Michigan; grandchildren, Sidney, Maxwell, Nathaniel and Jack. She was also preceded in death by a brother, David Goldfield.

Services: Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Saturday, December 17th from 1:30 - 2:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service and Sharing of Memories at 2:00 PM all in the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, 527 Center St., Bethlehem.
