As a kid, it was always exciting to hear that Uncle Bruce was in town. I couldn't wait to see what big truck he had this time. Of course, Uncle Bruce was always being a goofball and made birthdays and holidays so much more fun. I mean not every uncle puts whip cream in his birthday hat and then smashes it down on his head! As I got older, I could always count on Uncle Bruce for good advice. Most recently, his advice for a happy married life was two words, "Yes dear." I'm looking forward to seeing Uncle Bruce in heaven again someday...hopefully they stocked up on whip cream!

My memories begin in grade school at Fern Hill Elementary in West Chester. And birthday parties with beautiful cakes that Mr. Fenstermacher aka Rosebud baked. We went all through school together from first grade until we graduated from high school at Henderson High School. Later in life we met up and became friends once again and remained close friends for many years. Bruce never forgot my birthday on February 7th, and would always tease me about being older than he, by only 5 weeks. He had the gift of humor and would creates laughs or sometimes a stern look, because.. did you really say that? I am smiling now! I know that one day again we will meet and he will continue tease, me and hopefully ask me to dance. The man could dance! See you again one day.. get that record playing my friend. Until than... watch down, route for those Pittsburgh Steelers, And Happy Birthday March 11, in heaven. I know that we will meet again!

I remember…
the dinners in Drexel Hill with red beets, lots of ketchup on everything, the always available sugar cookies, and sand tarts at Christmas
the envelopes of pennies saved by your great grandmother, MawMaw
trips to the farm to visit cousins Jean and Gary
trips to the shore
learning to swim in Dee’s pool and watching you perfect a cannonball
eating your PopPop’s barbeque spare ribs and listening to Phillies games on the radio
enjoying your Mom’s chocolate birthday cakes and brownies
After growing up and moving many miles apart, I remember…
sharing dances with you at my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary and my son’s wedding
the silly birthday cards exchanged and you never letting me forget that I was older
the many miles you travelled on your road trips, but always managing to stop in and say “hello” whenever your travels took you close by or making special out-of-the-way trips to just stay in touch
the support of you and brother Drew during my Dad’s funeral
I will always remember my big teddy bear of a cousin, always ready with a smile, a joke, and a big bear hug and always searching for some degree of happiness and peace. I hope that you have found that happiness and peace, dear Brucie. You will be remembered. Love always.
