Obituary for George J. Fertal

George John Fertal, 81, of Bethlehem, passed away on January 13th with his family gathered by his side. He was born in Fountain Hill to Ethel and George Fertal.
George’s first car was a 1950 Chevy Bel Air and every car since remained a prized possession in pristine condition. He attended Liberty High School with his high school sweetheart and future wife, RoseMarie. They shared 60 years of marriage and good memories with their daughter, Roseann and son, George Anthony.
George first worked as a machinist for Bethlehem Apparatus and spent a year as a member of the Bethlehem Police Department before working as a security guard for Bethlehem Steel for 15 years and later, 15 years for Lucent Technologies. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, winter trips to Florida, car shows, and following his grandchildren’s activities.
He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. George was predeceased by his parents, wife, and daughter, all who welcomed him to his eternal home with the Lord.

Survivors are Children, George A. Fertal and Robyn Adams, Richard and Katherine Santoro; Sister, Ethel Ann Fazakas; Grandchildren, Colin and Hope Santoro, Ryan Santoro, Georgia Fertal, Domenica Fertal, and Great-Granddaughter, Claire. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins.

Services: Family and friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 19th at 10:30 with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 430 W. Washington Avenue, Bethlehem. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to JAMES FUNERAL HOME, Bethlehem. Masks Highly Encouraged in Church.
