Obituary for Harry Woodring Knecht Jr.

Harry W. Knecht Jr., 80, of Allentown, was called home on January 18, 2021 at LVHN -Cedar Crest surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Harry W. Knecht Sr. and Anna (Schoenerberger) Knecht. Harry was a graduate of Catasauqua High School, class of 1959. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and honorably served his country. Harry was employed as a professional fire fighter for the city of Bethlehem, IAFF Local 735 for 35 years until retiring. He was a member and former elder of Christ UCC Schoenersville. He was an avid outdoorsman, Penn State fan and loved all things Musikfest.

Survivors: His wife Janet; son Mark Knecht and wife Deb of Mechanicsburg, PA; daughters Christine Hartwell and husband Kevin of Litchfield, NH, Yvonne Vallone and husband Tom of Steel City, PA; sister Shirley Hixson and husband Joe of Bethlehem, PA, and his loving grandchildren Tye, Kevin Michael, Kaitlyn, Jake, and Anna and step-grandchildren Zachary and Emelina. Harry was preceded in death by his sisters Doris, Marilyn, and Carol.

Services: A celebration of life will be scheduled later this year when, hopefully, COVID will cease to claim lives of our loved ones.
