Obituary for Jane Zakovitch (Fistner)

Jane Fistner Zakovitch, 67, of Fountain Hill, passed away on January 31, 2021, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Frederick Zakovitch with whom she shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Fountain Hill, she was a daughter of the late William S. and Mary (Evrard) Fistner. She graduated from Liberty H. S. in 1971 and worked as a clerk for the U. S. Post Office for 10 years before retiring. Jane loved children and began a second career teaching at Holy Ghost Pre-School for 20 years until retiring. Jane was a devout parishioner and life long member of Holy Ghost R. C. Church where she was a member of the choir, kitchen, social and fall fair committees as well as other activities in the life of the parish.

Survivors: In addition to her husband, Fred, she is survived by her sisters, Charlene Dunn (Bob), Stephanie Fistner; brothers, William S. Fistner, David Fistner (Rita), Alan Fistner (Terry), Thomas Fistner, Michael Fistner (Daniele) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Fistner and sisters, Mary Beth Burkhart, and Patricia Barr.

Services: Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, Feb. 5th from 6-8:00 P.M. and on Saturday, Feb. 6th from 9:15-10 A.M. from the JAMES FUNERAL HOME 527 Center St. Bethlehem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:30 A.M. in Holy Ghost R. C. Church, 417 Carlton Ave. Bethlehem. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required in the funeral home and at church.
