Obituary for John C. Keyser

John Keyser, 86, of Bethlehem, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Varady) Keyser, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Ramsey NJ, he was a son of the late John and Hilda (Scholz) Keyser. He was a graduate of Muhlenberg College with a degree in Social Work and was a member of Phi Kappa Tau. Later he received a Master's degree in Journalism from Lehigh University. Following college he served in the U. S. Marines as a radio operator. John worked as a staff reporter for the Morning Call for many years and later for Owens Brockway Company for 9 years before retiring. John was an active member of St. John's Windish Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, where he sang on the choir for over 50 years, taught Sunday School and served on various congregation committees over the years. He was also a member of the Steelworker's Archives, South Bethlehem Historical Society and the Bethlehem/Murska Sobota Sister Cities Association.
Survivors: In addition to his wife, Helen, he is also survived by his sister, Margaret Richardson (Roger) of Franklin Lakes NJ, a niece and a nephew.
Services: Relatives and friends are invited to his graveside service on Wednesday, March 24th at 11 :00 A.M. in Bethlehem Memorial Park, Dewberry and Madison Avenues, Bethlehem.
