Katharina Bassett, 94, of Bethlehem, passed away in her home on Feb. 7, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Roy Bassett with whom she share 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2009. Born in Hohenfurth, Czech Republic, she was a daughter of the late Johann and Martha (Heberstriet) Jungbauer. She served in the American Red Cross after World War II as a baker, before marrying Roy and immigrating to the USA. Caring for her family was most important to her and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of College Hill Moravian Church, Bethlehem.
Survivors: She is survived by her son, Gerhart Bassett (Louise) of Bethlehem; daughter, Lile Ann Moberly (Robert) of Lincoln NE; sister in law, Frieda Jungbauer in Austrtia; 5 grandchildren, Adrianne Frohn (Doug), Jennifer Smith, David Bassett (Donna), Gregory Bassett (Kathleen), Kevin Bassett (Sofia); 9 great grandchildren, Noah Smith, Nathan Smith, Gabriel Johnson, Jessica Bassett, Justin Bassett, Brooke Bassett, Owen Bassett, Mya Bassett and Connor Bassett. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Johann Jungbauer.
Services: Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing this Sunday from 2-4:00 P.M. and on Monday from 10-11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM all in the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, 527 Center St. Bethlehem. Burial will be at Northampton Memorial Shrine.
