Martin Scott Hinkle (74) passed away on March 22, 2022 after a long illness. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 4, 1947. His legacy continues to be carried on by his wife, Cheryl Ann (Hensinger) Hinkle, his sons Jason (wife Gina) and Jamey (wife Kathy), and his granddaughters Eva, Mia and Mayzie Hinkle. As he would remind us, age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill, so we will start there. It was very important to our father to have a strong set of values and principles by which to live. His faithfulness to his wife was unwavering and he would always say the person you choose will have a profound impact on the quality of your life, so choose wisely. He chose wisely and created a home to always come home to. He was our lighthouse that would always guide us safely on our travels and would remind us to keep our wits about us. Scott Hinkle was a graduate of Liberty High School, Temple University, and McAllister Institute of Mortuary Science in New York City. He then began working at White Trucking and then spent the next 36 years working at Mack Trucks in Allentown. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, a service he was extremely proud of and would speak highly of throughout his life. He spent many cold nights with his sons camping and hunting in his old pop-up Army tent and mummy bag. Many of the skills he learned in the military he passed on to his boys and they are grateful for that discipline. He was always on time and remained true to his word. He was a man you could count on. You could always tell him anything and you knew your secret was safe with him. Opa, the name his grandchildren would call him, would always embrace you with a hug. He loved his grandchildren Eva, Mia, and Mayzie and made sure to pass on to the next generation his love and the importance of family. Growing up you learned that if you want to soar with eagles, you can't play with turkeys; thus the reason he was surrounded by so much love before he passed on. He said he would now know the secret and you can be certain it would be safe with him. Opa will be missed greatly but will live on for eternity as the greatest father, friend, husband, and confidant. We love you dad.

Services: Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 10:00-11:00AM followed by a service celebrating and remembering Scott's life at 11:00 A.M. all at the JAMES FUNERAL HOME 527 Center St. Bethlehem.
