Obituary for Mark R. Bodkin

Mark R. Bodkin, 65, of Allentown, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday evening, May 16, 2021.
Born in Cincinnati OH, he was a son of the late John and Patricia (Bradbury) Bodkin. He graduated from Emmaus H. S. and attended Kutztown University. He worked in retail and also was manager of the Emmaus Pizza Hut for many years. Later he worked in customer service for Verizon for many years until his retirement.
Mark had a passion for theater and the arts. He was active in Civic Theater for decades and performed in numerous productions and events such as LaCage, A Christmas Carol and many others. Of course along with that passion came a concern for helping people. Mark was very active as a board member of FACT (Fighting AIDS Continuously Together) were he chaired several events such as the FACT Summer Games, Snowball, Have A Heart Ball and many others. He would also host an annual house party each summer which raised several thousand dollars for FACT. Mark used his experience with FACT to chair the annual Gay Pride celebration in Allentown for Pride of the L.V, for which he was a board member for several years.
In his spare time, Mark enjoyed spending time with his friends going to Rehoboth Beach, attending recitals and different events. He loved animals and enjoyed the companionship of his cats and dogs. Over the past several years as his health declined, he continued to fight to regain his strength from a broken hip and later leg and heart issues. He relied on his many friends who helped him to stay independent. This was of great importance for Mark, who still planned to get well and continue helping FACT and Pride of the L.V.
Mark was a member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Emmaus.

Survivors: Mark will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Jay Bodkin of Indiana, aunt, Margaret Werner and her husband Andrew of Emmaus, uncle, Alan Bradbury and his wife Michelle Kaminsky of RI, and cousins.
