Obituary for Richard Vernon King

Richard V. King, 93, of Emmaus, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean (Seifert) King with whom he shared 70 years of marriage before her passing in February 2020. Born and raised in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Vernon and Marion (Fritchman) King. Richard, was a graduate of the former Bethlehem H.S. and after graduation served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Drill Instructor at Parris Island SC. He was a truck driver for over 36 years, last working for Airco in Bethlehem before retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed Drum and Bugle Corps events and attended many shows locally and across the U.S. He also enjoyed taking care of his well-manicured lawn and kept his car well-polished. He also enjoyed a good homemade pie and rice pudding. Richard, was a hardworking man who provided well for his family whom he loved very much and will be greatly missed.
Survivors: He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Bath of Bethlehem; son, Sean King of Fogelsville and grandson, Haydn King. He was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Thomas Bath; daughter- in-law, Natalie King; a brother, Kenneth and a sister Eleanor.
Services: Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Sunday, October 9, 2022 from 2:00-3:00 P.M. followed by a funeral service at 3:00 P.M. all at the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, 527 Center St., Bethlehem. Cremation will follow the service.
