Obituary for Richard J. Fallon

Print
Richard J. Fallon, age 72, departed life on Saturday, February 13,
2021. With strength and courage, Richard fought a long battle with a
rare Parkinson’s-like disease call Multiple System Atrophy.

Rich was born and raised in Rutherford, NJ, son of the late L. Joseph
and Ellen Fallon. He relocated to Annandale, NJ where he met and
married his wife Sharyn L. Fallon. After her passing in 2007, Richard
moved to Albuquerque, NM to follow his love of hot air ballooning. He
was very active in the Annual Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. In
recent years he’s moved back east to Bethlehem, PA.

Throughout his life Rich always sought out adventures — off-roading
with his jeep, becoming a hot air balloon pilot and owner, cross-country
motorcycle trips, kayaking, skiing and making a successful ascent on Mt.
Kilimanjaro. If it was an exciting adventure he was usual on board, from
hot air balloon bungee jumping, to sky diving. He loved Indy Car Racing
and attended both the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500. Rich loved to
travel, enjoying trips to many National Parks, Ireland, Santa Fe and
Tuscany. He lived his life to the fullest as evidenced by his favorite
quote: Life’s journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting “Holy Cow,
What a ride!”

Rich worked as an IT manager for ADP, and Elizabethtown Gas in NJ and
served as a valued volunteer guide at the Al Unser Museum in Albuquerque.

Richard is deeply missed by his surviving children: Christa Koch and her
husband Michael Koch, Richard Fallon and his wife Lisa Ann Fallon,
Joanna DeSordi and her husband David DeSordi and Timothy Jones,
grandchildren Nicholas Fallon, Kaitlyn Fallon, Haley Koch, Alex Koch,
Justin DeSordi, Sarah DeSordi and Kayleigh DeSordi as well as his
brother David Fallon and his wife Joan Fallon, sister, Rita Koch and her
husband Edward Koch and his sister Ellen Fallon as well as his many
nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will hold a memorial service later this spring. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to National Park
Foundation. http://give.nationalparks.org/goto/Rich_Fallon
