Arlene Mary Czipoth Smith, 87, of Allentown, residing at the Devon House in Allentown and formerly of Bethlehem, passed away on April 16, 2026. Arlene and Gerald Smith shared 60 years of marriage prior to Gerald's death on February 12, 2021. Born in Bethlehem, Arlene was the daughter of the late Geza and Mary (Jakisa) Czipoth. Arlene graduated from Liberty High School in 1956 and attended her class reunions faithfully. Her occupation was a bank teller at the First National Bank from 1958-1962. She was a loving and supportive Mother to her devoted daughters, Debra and Suzanne. She was a wonderful baker and cook. She enjoyed baking cakes, kiffles, nut tossies and cookies for the holidays. She loved polka dancing and watching dancing movies of her favorite actors, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelley and Ginger Rodgers. Bus trips to the casinos in Atlantic City and later at the Sands/Wind Creek Casino in Bethlehem playing the slots. Musikfest was her favorite festival attending on a yearly basis and enjoying all types of musical performances. You could find her there daily at the polka tent meeting friends and dancing. During her years at the assisted living facilities, she enjoyed bingo, music trivia, mind games, meeting new friends and pet visitations with her family dogs. Arlene was a devoted member of the former St. John's Windish Lutheran Church in Bethlehem.
Survivors: In addition to her daughters, Debra and Suzanne, she is survived by her nephew, Chuck Czipoth and his wife Lori Czipoth and sons Tyler and Austin, in addition to several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Czipoth and sister-in-law, Cory Czipoth.
Services: Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, April 23rd. from 10-11:30 AM and funeral service immediately following at 11:30 AM at the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, 527 Center Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will conclude the services at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
