Obituary

Barbara H. Geitner, 84, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Whitehall Manor. She was born in Carlstadt, New Jersey on February 1, 1939, to Rev. E. William Geitner and Hannah (Masom) Geitner. She was a math teacher for the Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School until her retirement. Prior to that, she had been a substitute teacher in many local districts and in bookkeeping at Moravian University. In her retirement, she was a long-time volunteer for the St. Luke's Visiting Nurse Association and actively supported their angel campaign. She enjoyed her summers on the Jersey Shore in Ocean Grove, NJ where she had a tent for many years. She also enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in Onancock. For many years, she would spend her winters in Englewood, FL with friends she taught with at school.

Survivors:She is survived by her children, R. Peter (Amy) Swart of Falls, PA and Jonathan A. (Carolyn) Swart of Bethlehem, PA, her 4 grandchildren: Kaylee, Joseph, Julia, and Mara and her great grandson, Matthias. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Ritsema of Holland, MI and her brother, Rev. E. Peter Geitner of Carlisle, PA as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family and arrangements are being handled by James Funeral Home in Bethlehem, PA.
