Bruce R. Raines, 79, of Center Valley, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Arden Courts in Allentown, PA, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Linda (Reinert) Raines. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Robert and Helen (Young) Raines. He was a member of Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church in Allentown where he served in many roles. Bruce was an Elder, Deacon, Usher, Children's Sunday School Teacher, Captain for Battalion with Christian Service Brigade, and helped out with various other ministries including Vacation Bible School in his latter years. He was a graduate of William Allen High School in 1963 where he played football, baseball and wrestled for the Canaries. Bruce worked most of his life for Lehigh Valley Dairy/Beatrice Cheese in Allentown on MacArthur Rd as a cheesemaker. He finished his career as a Maintenance Assistant at Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church/Lehigh Christian Academy before officially retiring in 2012.
Bruce always put his family first in everything that he did. He always took care of his wife, even in his retirement days doing various household chores. And he never missed an important milestone in his children's lives, even if it meant losing precious sleep time. He was also the jokester. Whether he was at work, church, or just interacting with the community, he would always give a huge smile and be giving that person a "hard time" in the way that only Bruce could pull off. The last 5 years, in particular the last 6 months were extremely hard for Bruce with his battle with Alzheimer's. It was so much more than just forgetting who his family and friends were. Despite his hardships, Bruce would always try his best to still give that big radiant smile and was always appreciative of the care he received. Bruce is finally at peace with his Lord. The Raines' family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Arden Courts and Holistic Hospice for all the love, care, and support he received at the end of his journey with Alzheimer's.
