Obituary

Evelyn Doris Goldbach, 91, of Rileyville (Honesdale), Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Hans Goldbach with whom she shared 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2011. Born in Newark NJ, she was a daughter of the late James P. and Rosanna (Boissonneault) Brown and grew up on a family chicken farm in Livingston, NJ before moving to Colonia, NJ to raise her own family. Evelyn, Paul and daughter Kathy moved to Rileyville to start a farm and enjoy retirement. Evelyn enjoyed many things in her life especially Sewing and Quilting, serving as a girl scout leader, playing the piano, operas, baking, exploring dirt roads to see where they go, their beautiful country farm and most of all she enjoyed raising her family and being a mother. She was a former parishioner of St. John The Evangelist R. C. Church, Honesdale, where she was a long-standing member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors: Evelyn is survived by her children, Cecilia Spitzer (husband, Howard), Paul Goldbach, Daniel Dawson (wife, Jill), Katherine Brown (husband, Jemil); Grandchildren, Kevin Spitzer, Jeffrey Spitzer, Corey Spitzer, Jessica Goldbach, Christopher Goldbach, Anna Goldbach, Cameron Dawson, Chelsea Dawson, Christian Benitez, Caleb Benitez and great grandson, Alexander Spitzer. She was also preceded in death by brothers, William, Edward (Morris) and Herman Brown and a sister, Florence Kanouse.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, June 6th at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 2270 Hancock Hwy., Equinunk PA 18417 burial of cremated remains will follow in the Parish Cemetery.

A continued celebration of Evelyn's life will follow the burial at The Red School House Restaurant, 1732 Bethany Turnpike (Rt 670) Pleasant Mount PA 18453.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, June 6th at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 2270 Hancock Hwy., Equinunk PA 18417 burial of cremated remains will follow in the Parish Cemetery. A continued celebration of Evelyn's life will follow the burial at The Red School House Restaurant, 1732 Bethany Turnpike (Rt 670). Pleasant Mount PA 18453.
