Bethlehem

Fiona Mary Byrne, 61, of Bethlehem, formerly of Dublin, Ireland, passed away suddenly on Monday morning, August 24, 2026, in her home.

Born in Dublin, Fiona was the daughter of the late Brendan and Josephine (Clare) Byrne. She later made her home in the United States, where she devoted much of her life to caring for others and, above all, to raising her beloved son, Everest.

Fiona was a woman of great strength, perseverance, and compassion. Throughout her life, she faced challenges with determination and continued to look toward the future with hope. She shared an exceptionally close bond with her son, and the two of them approached life as a team, supporting one another through its many changes and challenges. Her love, encouragement, and belief in him were among the greatest gifts she leaves behind.

Fiona worked for several years as a food bank administrator at New Bethany Ministries and also worked in healthcare. She was known for her caring nature and her willingness to help others.

She was a spiritual person and was raised in the Catholic faith.

Fiona is survived by her beloved son, Everest J. Byrne of Bethlehem; her sisters, Clodagh Green and her husband Clive, and Antoinette McGee and her husband Tos McGee; as well as her extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited to Fiona’s viewing on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, followed by Prayers at 8:00 PM, at James Funeral Home, 527 Center Street, Bethlehem. Cremation will take place privately on Saturday morning.
