George W. Carvis Jr., 82, formerly of Bethlehem, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Hammond House Assisted Living, Hollywood, Florida. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann E. Carvis, Together they shared 52 years of marriage before her passing in 2011. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late George Sr. and Rose Samu) Carvis. He served in the U. S. Army, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Moravian College and later received a Master's Degree from Lehigh University. He taught in the Bethlehem School District for 31 years, retiring in 1993. He also owned the Crystal Jade restaurant with his wife Ann. He was a member of Christ Church UCC, Bethlehem and devoted much of his retirement to volunteering for his church, community, and also at St. Luke's Hospital.
Survivors: He is survived by his daughter, Susan Anderson and her husband Rick of Hollywood FL; son, George W. Carvis III, and his wife Brenda of Hellertown; sister, Carmella Pheiff of Bethlehem; 4 grandsons, Alex, Nick, Andrew and Christian. He was also preceded in death by a brother.
Services: A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Christ Church UCC, 75 E. Market Street, Bethlehem, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Arrangements entrusted to the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, Bethlehem.
