Obituary

Gloria B. Hilbert, 91, of Bethlehem, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 9, 2022, in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the beloved wife of the late Myrl D. Hilbert with whom she shared 41 years of marriage, until his passing in 2011. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Helen (Holley) Badel. She graduated Liberty H. S. in 1949 and then attended Moravian College, Bethlehem Business College graduating in 1952 and later, St. Luke's School of Nursing graduating in 1957. Gloria spent most of her life serving the Lord and served as a Missionary for the Moravian Church in Nicaragua for several years, where she used her education and talents to serve those in need. She was member of Edgeboro Moravian Church, Bethlehem, where she served as an elder, sacristan (along with her late husband), a Sunday School teacher, lead Bible studies and volunteered wherever she was needed. She was also an avid Bee Keeper, a Musikfest volunteer for over 30 years and more recently volunteered at the Bethlehem-Salvation Army. She was also member of the Moravian King's Daughters and served on their board as well as many other organizations in the Lehigh Valley. All who met Gloria were drawn to her through her kindness and ability to see the good in all situations and people.

Survivors:She is survived by a stepdaughter, Karen Gehret, nieces, Sharon Lanman, Jackie Mahan, Jessie Ann Arthers and nephew, George Simpson and former foster son,Charles Berger. She was preceded in death by sisters, Thelma Arthers, Arlene Simpson, Helen Forker and former foster daughter, Katherine Smith.

Services: Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Monday evening, Aug. 15th from 6-8:00 P.M.at the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, 527 Center St., Bethlehem and to her Memorial Service on Tuesday, Aug. 16th at 11:00 A.M. at Edgeboro Moravian Church, 645 Hamilton Ave., Bethlehem. Burial will be private in Fairview Cemetery Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Edgeboro Moravian Church, 645 Hamilton Ave., Bethlehem 18017 or the Moravian King's Daughters Home, 61 West Market St., Bethlehem 18018
