Obituary

Dr. James Albert Greenleaf, 75, passed away on July 22, 2015, after succumbing to Leukemia. He was the husband of Gwyneth Greenleaf for the last 6 years, and husband to the late Janet (Bohstedt) Greenleaf for 41 years. Born July 10, 1940, he was one of the three sons of the late Frederick M. Greenleaf and Mary (Hayner) Greenleaf of Allentown. He is predeceased by his brother Richard Greenleaf.

Retired from Lehigh University, Dr. Greenleaf was a professor, advisor and head of the Finance department. His Students appreciated his active involvement in their educational endeavors. He ensured they were exposed to great speakers from Wall Street and had access to software and databases that are used by institutional investors worldwide. He helped coordinate fundraising for the Greenleaf Trading Room in Rauch Business Center.

Over his years at Lehigh, he served as a principal and consultant with several money management firms and functioned as an advisor to a number of organizations such as The Board of Pensions for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the N.E. PA Lutheran Synod Pooled Endowment Fund, The planned Giving Committee of the United Way, and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia Endowment Foundation.

Dr. Greenleaf received his degrees from Penn State (B.S. Mathematics), Lehigh (M.S. Management Science), and The Graduate School of Business of New York University (Ph.D.). Before his career at Lehigh, he worked for Western Electric, Bethlehem Steel, the Ogden Corporation, and the U.S. Army.

Survivors: Wife; son, John and his wife Amy Guilford of Connecticut; daughter, Jean Marie Anderson and husband Todd of Timonium, Maryland; two grandchildren, Paul and Ella; brother, Frederick P. Greenleaf and his wife Marjorie; sister-in-law, Diane Greenleaf; niece, Holly Greenleaf Whitney and nephew, Gary Greenleaf.
