John "Lou" Hayes, 88, of Palmer Township, passed away on October 16, 2015. He was the husband of Marian (Groff) Hayes with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. Born in Plains, PA, he was the son of the late William J and Bessie M. Hayes. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the aircraft carrier, Franklin D. Roosevelt, as a radarman and part of the original shake down crew during World War II. He furthered his career as a structural draftsman at Standard Structural Steel Company in Newington CT, for 40 years before retiring to Mystic CT, then returning to Palmer Township to be near family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Survivors: In addition to his beloved wife, are daughters, Linda D. Vallera and husband Anthony of Palmer Twp.; Pamela J. Hayes of Florida, granddaughters, Farah L. Vallera of Bethlehem; Stephanie L. Mathers of Bethlehem; great grandson, Dawson T. Bochini of Palmer Twp.; sister, Claire H. James of Florida. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Piatt.
