Leila F. Martin, 90, of Bethlehem, passed away, December 19, 2015, in Reading. She was the wife of the late Richard Martin with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. During WWII, Leila joined the Nurse Cadets at Indiana Hospital in Indiana, PA and graduated as a Registered Nurse. During the Korean War, Leila joined the Air Force and served servicemen and their families at Lakeland AF Base in Texas, St. John's Newfoundland, and Goose Bay Labrador. She was honorably discharged as a Captain. Leila's greatest passion was as faithful wife to Richard, and loving mother to their three children. They started their lives together in Eighty Four, PA and the family of five moved to Bethlehem, PA in the early 60's. Leila was born and raised in Penn Run, PA and was the daughter of the late Zenas and Florence (Sproull) Stephens.
Survivors: Her loving family, a daughter, Evelyn M. Onopa and her husband Jeffrey of Reading; sons, Ernest R. Martin and his wife Patricia of Bethlehem;
Edward L. Martin and his wife Reita of Millville, NJ; grandchildren, Kelly Spengler and her husband Kyle; Cpt. Andrew Martin and his wife Kerry; Daniel Martin; Katie Martin; Joshua Martin; Sgt. Jacob Martin; great grandchildren, Elijah Noel, Leah Rose Rodriguez-Martin, Emma and Ruby Spengler.
