Phyllis J. Schaffner, 92, of Whitehall and formerly of Bethlehem, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in Whitehall Manor. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Schaffner, Sr., who died in 2006.

Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Marian (Wimmer) Reichard. Phyllis attended Bethlehem High School. She was a member of the Republican Club, where she volunteered at the polls for many years. Phyllis was also a member of the former Calvary Wesleyan Church in Bethlehem. She loved knitting, baking and singing.

Survivors: Children, Charles W. Schaffner, Jr. and his wife Deb of Bethlehem, Linda, Pamela Schaffner and her companion Darrell Williams of Northampton, Dwight Schaffner of Bethlehem, Patricia Dashner and her husband Frank of Bethlehem; daughter-in-law, Joann Schaffner of Bethlehem; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by a son Perry L. Schaffner, daughter Beverly Felker, sister Gladys Dankel and brother Paul Wimmer.

Services will be private at Phyllis's request. Arrangements are entrusted to the James Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
