Obituary

Robert L. Stanton, 74, of Bethlehem PA, formerly of Albany NY, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Brenda (Farmer) Stanton who passed on April 29, 2022.

Robert Stanton was born on March 5, 1948 in Maxton, North Carolina to the late Carse William and Rosa Mae (Purcell) Stanton. The family moved to Pennsylvania in 1951 and lived in the town of Bethlehem. Robert and his family lived in a neighborhood called the "Heights".
Robert attended and graduated from Liberty High school. He was interested in sports and played football. As an adult he worked at as a welder. In 1974 he met Marsha White and they had a baby girl named Cheryl aka Spunky. He loved being a father and grandfather.
Robert experienced a lot ups and downs in his life and struggled in his younger years. However, once he moved to Albany NY things took a turn for the good. He joined Mount Pleasant Baptist Church under Pastor Morgan. The happiest time was when he met his wife Brenda in 2006 and they were married in 2007. Brenda and Robert lived happily together for 15 years serving as diligent members of the church and community. "Rob" as he was called by many was a fun-loving happy soul who loved spending time with family and friends. He was always willing to do for others and help anyone out.
Robert was preceded in death by his father and mother, his wife Brenda, his daughter Cheryl, brothers Frank, and Michael, sister Carletta and nephew Keith.

Survivors: He is survived by his stepson Lydell (Nikita) Rowe, 3 brothers Carse (Nancy) and, Wilfred (Jeanette) of Bethlehem, Anthony (Annette) of Lancaster, 3 sisters Rosie and Mollie both of Bethlehem, and Michelle of GA, a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins as well as his Mount Pleasant Church family.

Services: Relatives and friends are invited to a time of gathering on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 10:30 to 11:00 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, all in the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, 527 Center Street, Bethlehem.
