Roosevelt Overton was born on January 17th 1941 in the county of Tallahatchie Mississippi. Roosevelt was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Knowles Weathers and her late husband The Reverend J.C. Weathers.
Roosevelt completed his early childhood education in his hometown and graduated from Wells High School in Chicago, Illinois. He later relocated to New York, NY, in 1969 and pursued a career as a professional butcher until he retired in 2003 from Pathmark in Queens, New York.
Roosevelt loved and had a great passion for bowling and he was a pro at it too. He would bowl in many leagues all over the United States. His bowling family and friends gave him the nickname "Rosie"and "Big O" because of his bowling skills and because he was an awesome person to know and be around.
Roosevelt was a beloved father grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a man of wisdom and immense humor who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
He touched the lives of so many people throughout the journey of his life.
His memories will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
May you rest in peace and may your spirit be forever remembered for the light you brought into the lives of others.

James and LaDon Love; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 honorary brothers, Percy Scullark and Michael O'Garra; cousin, Bill Johnson; uncle, Elijah Weathers; a host of special nieces and nephews, relatives, his poker buddies, bowling community, coworkers and friends around the globe.
Services: Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, September 12th from 1:00 to 2:00 PM followed by his Homegoing Memorial Service at 2:00 PM all at the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, 527 Center St. Bethlehem.
The Service will be live-streamed and will go live about 5 minutes before the service time.
