Scott W. Glidden of Allentown, PA passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Friday, August 28, 2026. Scott was born in Summit, NJ on January 17, 1960 to Marjorie Mathis and Gene Glidden. Growing up in Doylestown, PA, Scott graduated from Central Bucks East HS, earned a bachelor's degree from Kutztown University and a Master's Degree from Lehigh University. Scott had a 35 year career in education, serving initially as an emotional and learning support teacher before moving into 30 years of service at William Allen HS where he was recognized as "Educator of the Year" in 2018, and from where he retired from his role as the Special Education Department Chair in May 2021. Scott was an extremely devoted educator, a fierce advocate for the rights of thousands of students, and a mentor to countless teachers, counselors and school staff, always willing to nurture the professional growth of others. An avid golfer, playing in many leagues as well as with his brother who he regularly beat. Scott loved the arts, music, traveling and was a loyal Phillies fan. A man who spent his life planting and tending to the seeds of growth in others, a virtue taught to him by his parents and one which has left everyone he touched with stronger roots. Scott never wavered from his personal beliefs and convictions, he cared deeply about the wellbeing of family, friends and marginalized populations and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who crossed his path.
