Twila J. Evans, 88, of Bethlehem, passed away in the early hours of the morning on Friday, April 23, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Evans. Born in Milledgeville Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Clarence E. and Thelma F. (Angle) Sholl. She was a graduate of Goddard College, where she received her Bachelor's Degree and then attended Lehigh University, where she received her Master's Degree in Education. Twila worked in education for many years in the Northampton County Prison System, where she was able to help many inmates accomplish their educational goals and was responsible for the "When Bonds Are Broken Program." Later she worked at Northampton Community College as a grant writer and tutor until her retirement. She touched many lives in her career and was sought out by her past students to help their children meet their educational goals. Prior to her career in the Lehigh Valley, she worked in nursing and with recovering polio patients, while living in Indiana and was a successful business woman in the manufacturing industry there. Twila, was also a long-time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Bethlehem.
Survivors: She is survived by her sons, Eric Evans and his fiancé Mary Verrinder of New Jersey and David Evans and his fiance' Karen Bengston of Bethlehem. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Claudia Evans on April 24, 2020.
Services: A celebration of Twila's life will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 44 E. Market Street, Bethlehem. More info at www.jamesfuneralhome.org
