Obituary

Ursula M. Genthner, 89, of Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth passed away peacefully on August 30, 2019 (her wedding anniversary) in St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Daniel G. Genthner.

Born in Oceanside, NY, "Doodie" was the youngest daughter of the late Harold and Louise (Kraft) Maher. She grew up on Long Island and graduated from Oceanside High School where she met Daniel Genthner.

Ursula and Daniel lived most of their married lives in Williams Township, where she delighted in her herb, vegetable and flower gardens, rehabilitating wild animals from owls to raccoons, and creating original paintings on wood panels and furniture often inspired by John James Audubon, Carl Larsson, Beatrix Potter and Maurice Sendak.

Ursula was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Easton, and later Trinity Episcopal Church in Bethlehem. She enjoyed decorating the altar with flowers from her garden and, after moving to Bethlehem, volunteering in the soup kitchen.

Ursula is survived by her sons, Christopher Maher Genthner and wife, Paula of Easton, PA; Peter Whitlock Genthner and wife, Margit of Pinehurst, NC; daughter-in-law Margaret Genthner of New Hope, PA; seven grandchildren, Luke, Lynn, Lara, Penn, Betsy, Ingrid and Priscilla; and two great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Godwin Genthner, in May 2010; her son, Timothy Wells Genthner, in May 2018; and her sister, Patricia Roberts.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 44 E. Market Street, Bethlehem, PA. Arrangements entrusted to James Funeral Home, Bethlehem. More info at www.jamesfuneralhome.org.
