Obituary

Walter R. Leiss, 88, formerly of Wellington, Chester County, where he lived for a short time and Bethlehem, where he lived for 61 years, passed away peacefully in Chandler Hall Retirement Community, Newtown, on Sunday, May 24, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Joanne M. (Snyder) Leiss, who passed away on April 7, 2015. Together they had shared 63 years of marriage. Born in Lebanon PA, he was a son of the late Robert D. and Carrie (Sherman) Leiss. He served in the U. S. Air Force (Army Air Corp) during WWII and graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1951 with a BA in Business, where he was also active in Lamba Chi Alpha fraternity. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel for 31 years as an Administrative Management Executive, retiring in 1982. He was a long time member of Christ Church UCC, Bethlehem, where he had served as President of Consistory and volunteered in other activities of the Church. He was also active in the Jaycee's.

Survivors: He is survived by daughters, Debbie and her husband, Dave Ferry; Karen Leiss Spinner and partner Jim Coyle; Linda and her husband, Jeff Anderson; grandchildren, Melissa Ferry and Christopher Ferry. He was preceded in death by siblings Robert, Madeline, and Miriam.

Services: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service on Thursday, May 28th, at 11:00 a.m. in Christ Church UCC, 75 E. Market Street Bethlehem, where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Bethlehem.
