Remembering My Friend Pattie...

Pattie and I were friends from the 1970s and 80s in New Jersey. I remember when she had just finished a course in modeling and was working on a portfolio. We spent a lot of time together out at the malls over those years. Willowbrook, Wayne Hills... We did more than a few photoshoots. She was expert with makeup and putting together costumes. One night we went to see the movie "Scarface" with Al Pacino and on the way home laughed about one day having a white Rolls Royce and living the life. Pattie and I had big dreams! We'd go dancing at Bentleys (Mothers) and Nathan Detroits on Route 23 in Wayne. She loved Prince and the music from "Purple Rain". The world was a very different place back then. Within a year or so, I left for Hollywood and a life changing career. Pattie and I kept in touch for a while until the pull of our lives led us in different directions. Through the years we would connect over social media and talk briefly a few times but life just has a way of keeping you busy. It is easy to believe you will always have time to get together again. I am sad that it will not happen in this lifetime. Pattie will always be one of my dearest friends. I would not be the person I am today if not for her inspiration and friendship. It's the little things that you experience when you're young that make an impression and stay with you forever. I am blessed to have know her. Pattie was... is a free spirit. She was never afraid to speak out and express her opinion; avid for life and reaching out for fullfillment. If there is an afterlife, I know Pattie is busy. Her eternal spirit is blazing. I feel the world never got to really know her talent and how much she had to offer. Pattie, mindful of the reality of any given serious situation, had a way of putting you at ease and making everything seem to be OK. She always appeared confident and much wiser than her years. You don't often find these qualities in a person. She was special. As long as we live, Pattie too will continue to live; for she will always be a part of us; as we remember her and share beautiful memories, she will never be forgotten... I cannot say goodbye. Pattie never liked goodbyes, I will just say "au revoir"; for she has taken the road we must all one day travel. Although she is gone from our sight, her light will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
